Crystal requires Formal Evening attire in dining venues, bars and lounges after 6 p.m. on designated formal nights, with Beefbar the stated exception. Pack an outfit for that evening if you plan to use the other venues.
For the other evenings, build a polished but reusable wardrobe around Evening Resort. Evening Resort: trousers, jeans and jackets
Crystal’s Before You Sail guide lists dark, unripped jeans among Evening Resort options; the men’s example requires an accompanying jacket. Chinos or other suitable trousers make a straightforward alternative if you want fewer clothing conditions to remember. Change from daytime shorts before the evening begins.
Two dinner bottoms with several coordinating tops can cover ordinary evenings. Add quantities according to your trip length and laundry plans. Try the complete outfit while seated so you know it will be comfortable through dinner.
Formal night needs its own outfit and schedule
The Before You Sail guide describes one formal night on sailings longer than seven days, while the daily Reflections program supplies the actual evening designation. A suit with dress shoes or an evening outfit such as a cocktail dress or dressy separates fits the published examples; the tie is optional. Confirm special-voyage and World Cruise arrangements separately.
Choose a complete formal outfit, including appropriate shoes, before adding accessories. A spare top can be useful if a spill would otherwise leave you without suitable evening clothing. Repeat pieces across the trip where their care requirements allow.
Book Beefbar for a less formal dinner
The onboard FAQ exempts Beefbar from mandatory Formal Evening attire. Its restaurant FAQ still specifies Evening Resort after 6 p.m. and requires a dinner reservation. Reserve for the formal-night date if you are relying on that alternative.

Why shorts and special meals deserve an extra check
The downloadable guide contains tailored-shorts examples, including a Beefbar-and-Bar qualification, while the current onboard FAQ says no shorts in public areas or dining venues after 6 p.m. Our packing recommendation is trousers or a skirt for evenings. If the shorts exception is important to you, get current voyage-specific confirmation instead of relying on the more permissive wording alone.
Also check a booked event’s own terms. The Vintage Room is labeled Formal–Evening by Crystal. A private wine dinner can therefore require different preparation from an ordinary restaurant evening. Tell the organizer about clothing or footwear needs in advance if relevant; do not arrive assuming that the broad Evening Resort examples settle every special-event question.
Laundry access and clothes for departure
The current FAQ confirms complimentary self-service laundry on Serenity and Symphony, including detergent. That makes repeating washable basics practical. It does not mean every dry-cleaning service or delicate garment is included, and it does not guarantee an empty machine at the moment you need it.
Allow time for washing and drying, and keep a spare outfit available. Ask about pressing costs and turnaround for formalwear. Before leaving luggage for collection on the last evening, set aside the clothes and shoes you will wear home.
Compare the evening schedules before booking
If dressing for dinner and a lounge visit is part of the occasion for you, Crystal’s formal evening may appeal. For a different evening routine, compare Regent’s elegant-casual rules or Atlas’s no-formal-night policy.
