1. Scope and restricted industry access
This policy applies to CruiseGem.com, CruiseGem emails, and related services we operate. It does not govern a cruise line, excursion marketplace, booking partner, map provider, or other website you visit through a link from CruiseGem.
This Privacy Policy explains our information practices but does not grant permission to use CruiseGem. Access to or use of CruiseGem by or on behalf of cruise lines, cruise operators, their related companies, employees, contractors, designees, representatives, agents, travel agencies, travel advisors, online travel agencies, industry data providers, or other cruise-industry businesses is prohibited without CruiseGem’s prior written permission. Our Terms & Conditions contain the complete access and use restrictions.
2. Information you give us
When you create a price watch, save a search, subscribe to home-port deals, or request secure access to your tracking, we may collect your email address, selected sailings and ports, cabin and occupancy preferences, target price, alert settings, time zone, and consent status. If a future feature asks for another contact method, we will use it only for the purpose shown when you provide it.
CruiseGem does not currently process cruise payments, passport details, loyalty-program credentials, or traveler documents. A booking partner collects information needed to complete a purchase under its own privacy policy.
3. Information collected automatically
Our hosting and security providers receive ordinary request information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested page, referring page, and timestamps. CruiseGem may use an approximate city or region supplied by the network edge to suggest nearby departure ports.
For our own traffic reports, CruiseGem records anonymous browser and session identifiers, pages viewed, referring website, campaign label, browser family, device type, country, and time. We do not store IP addresses in this traffic dataset. Our web server also creates hourly, IP-free totals for likely human and known-bot page requests. This classification is based on browser identification and is not infallible. We honor the browser Do Not Track setting for the browser-based traffic report.
If you allow precise location, your browser uses the device location to rank nearby ports. CruiseGem does not send those precise coordinates to our server. Your selected home ports, comparison list, and anonymous traffic identifiers may be stored in your browser. We also use a first-party session identifier and a one-way browser identifier when recording an outbound partner click, so we can measure referrals and prevent unreliable counting.
4. How we use information
- Provide cruise search, price history, comparisons, maps, watches, and saved searches.
- Send confirmations, requested alerts, digests, preference links, and service messages.
- Measure site performance and outbound referrals.
- Protect CruiseGem, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and maintain reliable records.
- Comply with law and enforce our terms.
5. When information is shared
We disclose information to vendors that help us host the site, deliver email, secure the service, and measure operations, subject to their role in providing those services. When you follow a cruise, excursion, webcam, map, or booking link, the destination receives the information your browser normally sends and applies its own terms and privacy policy.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of the service. CruiseGem does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention and security
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service, maintain price-alert and consent records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the platform. Unsubscribe and delivery-suppression records may be retained so we do not send messages you no longer want. Operational logs and inactive records may be deleted or aggregated.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including restricted administrative access, hashed security tokens, and limited-access production systems. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices
You can decline device location, clear CruiseGem browser storage, use the preference link in an email, pause or delete tracking, or unsubscribe from email. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with your email, subject to records we must retain for security, compliance, or suppression purposes.
8. Children
CruiseGem is intended for adults planning travel and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. U.S. service and policy changes
CruiseGem currently focuses on the United States market. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations used by our service providers. We may update this policy as the product or law changes. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date and, when appropriate, an additional notice.
