RoyalUp and MoveUp bids: set a limit before chasing a bigger cabin

An upgrade bid is an additional purchase, not a replacement for the fare you already paid. Decide what the new accommodation is worth to you before entering the bidding screen. Keep your original room if the potential locations or total charge would make the holiday worse.
RoyalUp and Celebrity MoveUp use their own eligibility and offer terms. An invitation does not reveal the number of rooms available, competing bids or your chance of success. Reports from winners can help identify questions to ask, but they cannot produce a reliable acceptance probability.

Convert the displayed bid into the whole charge
Royal Caribbean's UK RoyalUp FAQ describes an amount per person for the entire cruise, charging the first two occupants. The UK RoyalUp terms also explain the double-occupancy basis for solo bookings. Read the terms attached to your market's invitation before submitting.
For a hypothetical $250 per-person bid charged twice, the upgrade costs $500 in total. On a seven-night cruise, that is another $71.43 per cabin per night. Add any applicable increase in daily gratuities and subtract only benefits you were otherwise going to purchase and that are actually included with the upgrade.
Compare bidding with a confirmed cabin change
Ask what a direct upgrade costs and whether it lets you select a specific room. Compare that quote with your bid, allowing for any difference in location control. The direct offer may disappear before a bid is decided.
Celebrity's MoveUp terms retain your existing promotions but do not add new ones. An upgrade from a non-suite room does not include Premium Drinks or Premium Wi-Fi, and Captain's Club points remain based on the category originally purchased. Check the accommodation's dining and lounge access separately before valuing the bid.
Treat the maximum bid as a spending decision
Set a limit using the total charge, your remaining trip budget and the worst acceptable assignment. If every extra dollar would otherwise fund a must-do excursion, the upgrade needs to be more valuable than that excursion. If you require a connecting arrangement or accessibility features, get those constraints resolved before bidding.
Multiple bids should each be affordable and acceptable on their own. Do not enter an uncomfortable bid merely because a screen calls it competitive. The operator's acceptance process and inventory are not public enough to turn that label into a measured chance of winning. A minimum bid is a valid offer amount, not evidence of either success or failure.
Check deadlines, acceptance and the new invoice
Read the acceptance and amendment rules in your own offer. Celebrity's published MoveUp terms allow changes until 48 hours before departure only while the offer remains unaccepted and the card uncharged. Acceptance can come earlier and makes the charge final, subject to the stated cruise-cancellation exceptions. RoyalUp's cited UK terms also make accepted charges generally nonrefundable.
After acceptance, check the new category and room number, payment, gratuities, confirmed features, dining arrangements and luggage tags. Reconfirm any accessibility requirement. The Royal Suite Class benefits vary by tier and ship; a familiar word such as suite does not settle every inclusion. Keep the old and new confirmations so a discrepancy can be described precisely.

- Make sure every category you bid on meets essential room needs.
- Read the amendment deadline and accepted-bid cancellation terms.

When does RoyalUp or MoveUp bidding become available?
Availability depends on the sailing, reservation and operator's invitation. Check eligibility using the official program linked from your booking and use that offer's dates. Do not assume another passenger's invitation date applies to you.
When will I find out whether my upgrade bid won?
Follow the notification deadline in your offer and monitor the official booking record and payment method. An unchanged status is not proof that you won or lost. Plan to travel comfortably in the originally booked room until a change is confirmed.
Does a minimum upgrade bid have a realistic chance of winning?
The public information does not establish your odds. Reports omit unsuccessful passengers and do not disclose inventory or competing bids. Bid an amount you would be happy to pay if accepted, rather than trying to infer a winning percentage.
