Calculate Royal Caribbean drink-package value with port days, coffee, water and cabin rules, including the 2026 Freestyle-cup change.

A drink package makes financial sense when its final price is below what you would otherwise spend on included drinks. Count the coffees, water and alcohol you realistically want, then account for port days. Buying a package is not a reason to drink more than you intended.
Use the price in your own sailing's checkout, including service charges and any required purchases for cabin mates. A heavily discounted daily headline can still produce a larger bill than paying individually. The examples here are hypothetical and use U.S. dollars.
What matters for your decision
- Compare the complete package price with drinks you would otherwise buy.
- Allow for lower onboard spending during long days ashore.
- Include any required cabin-mate purchase and check excluded venues.
Calculate the whole cruise, including time ashore
Suppose an all-in seven-night package costs $700 per person. If your expected included purchases total $80 on each of four days aboard and $35 on each of three port days, pay-as-you-go spending would be $425. The package costs $275 more. Change those inputs to reflect your normal choices, not the quantity needed to make the package appear worthwhile.
For a mixed basket, add each expected drink's menu price and applicable charge across the whole cruise. Subtract that expected spending from the all-in package price: a positive result is the extra cost of buying the package. Port-day spending off the ship belongs in a separate budget unless the package specifically covers the destination venue.
Royal Caribbean's package-purchase FAQ says an alcoholic package must be purchased for all guests of legal drinking age in the same stateroom. If someone cannot drink, ask the operator about your circumstances before purchasing; do not assume a forum exception is approved for your booking.
Read inclusions by package and venue
The current Royal Caribbean: Refreshment Package inclusions lists non-alcoholic cocktails, premium coffee and tea, bottled water, fresh juices, fountain soda and Johnny Rockets milkshakes. That does not mean every branded coffee or milkshake venue is covered. The Royal Caribbean: Compare beverage packages excludes drinks from licensed Starbucks and Desserted Milkshakes stores.
From March 15, 2026, Deluxe and Refreshment no longer include the Freestyle cup. The checked page lists a $4.99 onboard cup option. Classic Soda has different cup inclusions, so check the terms of the package you are buying instead of relying on an older promotional image.
Coffee card, Refreshment or individual drinks
Make a second comparison using only non-alcoholic purchases if that is what you want. A coffee card can suit a narrow routine; Refreshment covers a broader set of drinks; paying individually preserves flexibility. Price the actual coffee size and preparation you order and ask how many punches it uses before valuing a card.
Do not treat a generic card image as proof that every drink uses one punch. Also check eligible venues, sailing validity and whether the drinks you want already appear in your fare or loyalty benefits. A smaller product can be better value without covering everything.
Compare the complete totals for competing promotions
Two $100 packages with 50% off the second cost $150 before any additional charges. A 30% reduction on both costs $140. Those hypothetical prices demonstrate the calculation; real promotions can use different starting prices and eligibility. Save both final totals rather than comparing the largest printed percentage.

- Estimate your normal drink purchases for sea days and port days separately.
- Check covered drinks, venues and any loyalty benefits you already have.
- Confirm required purchases for other adults sharing the cabin.

Questions travelers ask
How many drinks would make a cruise beverage package worthwhile?
Use the final package cost and the prices of drinks you would actually buy. Include coffee and water where covered, estimate lower onboard spending for days mostly ashore, and account for any compulsory cabin-mate package. Do not increase consumption to reach a calculated break-even point.
Do both adults in a cabin have to buy the alcohol package?
Royal Caribbean's published rule requires the alcoholic package for every guest of legal drinking age in the same cabin. Ask the operator about any individual exception before purchase and keep its confirmation.
Am I charged for a drink package on port days and the last morning?
Do not remove port days from a package quote unless its terms allow that. Use the total charged for the sailing. Confirm final-morning service and the package's expiry in your order rather than assuming another full day of value.
Are coffee, bottled water, and mocktails included in the refreshment package?
Royal Caribbean's checked Refreshment list includes premium coffee and tea, bottled still and sparkling water, and mocktails. Venue exclusions still apply; licensed Starbucks purchases are excluded from the general beverage packages.
Are Johnny Rockets milkshakes covered by my beverage package?
Johnny Rockets milkshakes appear in the checked Refreshment inclusions. Desserted Milkshakes is separately excluded. Confirm the actual venue on your ship instead of treating all milkshakes as one product.
Does the Deluxe Beverage Package include the souvenir soda cup?
Under the published change effective March 15, 2026, Deluxe does not include the Freestyle cup. The checked comparison lists an onboard purchase option; review the terms attached to an earlier package purchase if relevant.
How many coffee-card punches does a specialty drink use?
Confirm the punch count for your chosen drink size and preparation with the current card terms or café. Do not assume a one-punch rule for every specialty drink when calculating value.
Is fifty percent off the second drink package better than another promotion?
Not necessarily. With equal starting prices, 50% off only the second package reduces the combined price by 25%. Compare the final party total, service charges and inclusions against the alternative offer.
