Rotterdam dining guide: Dutch café, Tamarind, seafood and included meals

Rotterdam restaurant guide to Grand Dutch Café, Dive-In, New York Deli & Pizza, Pinnacle Grill, Tamarind, Rudi’s Sel de Mer and Morimoto sushi.

Jump to a section

Rotterdam’s included dining is more varied than a main restaurant plus buffet. Grand Dutch Café, Dive-In and New York Deli & Pizza give the day different food stops, while paid restaurants cover steak, Italian food, seafood and Asian-inspired dining. You can choose a specialty occasion after understanding what the regular fare already provides.

The current sushi offering deserves attention: Holland America introduced Morimoto by Sea Sushi Bar on Rotterdam in 2025. Older guides may still use Nami Sushi. The sushi bar, a Morimoto pop-up dinner and the standalone Morimoto restaurant on another ship are different offerings, so this guide keeps them separate.

THE SHORT VERSION

What matters for your decision

  • Grand Dutch Café’s standard food is complimentary, while its specialty drinks are purchased separately.
  • Morimoto by Sea Sushi Bar is Rotterdam’s current sushi concept; do not confuse it with a full standalone Morimoto restaurant.
  • Have It All dining benefits need a venue-specific check rather than an assumption that every paid meal is covered.
01

Which restaurants are included on Rotterdam?

The Dining Room and Lido Market provide regular meals. Dive-In supplies burgers and hot dogs, New York Deli & Pizza adds deli and pizza choices, and Grand Dutch Café offers included Dutch bites. Club Orange’s dedicated dining is an eligibility-based benefit. Room service has its own menu and selected paid items, so it should not be treated as an unlimited version of every onboard restaurant.

The table covers principal venues. Confirm hours and access in the official ship information. Drinks, premium dishes and delivery may cost extra even where standard food is included.

The Dutch café and the updated sushi bar are worth distinguishing

Grand Dutch Café is a useful included-food stop with a different identity from the buffet. Holland America explicitly distinguishes complimentary Dutch treats from beverages sold separately. That means a snack and specialty coffee do not necessarily have the same cost status. Check the available food and hours when you want a smaller meal rather than assuming a café visit requires a paid restaurant budget.

Morimoto by Sea Sushi Bar was introduced on Rotterdam as part of the 2025 rollout. Its menu and scale differ from both a full specialty restaurant and a scheduled Morimoto pop-up dinner. When asking about reservations or package coverage, use the complete name of the experience you want. Otherwise, an answer about a pop-up can easily be mistaken for the sushi bar’s policy.

Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto, Tamarind and Rudi’s Sel de Mer give four clear cuisine and occasion choices. Pinnacle is the steakhouse comparison; Canaletto is Italian; Tamarind is the Asian-inspired restaurant; Sel de Mer emphasizes seafood. Inspect the actual menus for the whole party, including alternatives, rather than deciding solely from the restaurant name or a photograph of one signature dish.

03

Which meal is worth booking first?

For a single specialty dinner, use the strongest shared preference as the starting point. Seafood enthusiasts should inspect Sel de Mer, while a mixed party seeking a familiar steakhouse format can compare Pinnacle Grill. Tamarind is a useful choice when its cuisine is the reason for the reservation. If the group mainly wants sushi, price a meal at the sushi bar separately instead of assuming it needs the same budget as a multicourse dinner.

For an economical daytime plan, rotate among the included venues according to location and appetite. Dive-In is convenient when a burger fits the day; New York Deli & Pizza offers another casual meal; Grand Dutch Café provides a distinct light-food stop. Those choices can make a specialty package less necessary for variety, particularly on a sailing with lunches ashore.

04

Build a dining plan around the actual sailing

Check how your main dining arrangement works, then coordinate specialty reservations with the evening music and show schedule. Leave a margin after long excursions. On a sea day, decide whether afternoon tea, a substantial lunch or an early dinner is the priority rather than automatically fitting all three at full size. The schedule should serve the trip you want to have.

If your fare includes Have It All, inspect the exact specialty-dining benefit, eligible restaurants and any reservation requirements. Do not assume Sel de Mer, the sushi bar or a special pop-up is covered simply because it is a paid food experience. Compare the amount you would otherwise spend on the included restaurant benefit, then budget separately for the other meals and drinks you actually want.

Reservations, menus and the total food budget

If you have a food allergy, contact the cruise line before departure and discuss preparation with the dining team before ordering. Our cruise dietary-needs guide explains what to confirm.

Compare departure dates and cabin fares on CruiseGem’s Rotterdam page, then add the optional meals and drinks you actually plan to buy. Use the resulting trip total to compare sailings.
