Oasis of the Seas dining guide: Portside BBQ, free meals and specialty picks

Plan Oasis of the Seas dining with Portside BBQ, Giovanni’s Table, included restaurants, specialty choices and a practical food budget.

Jump to a section

Oasis of the Seas is especially worth examining if your idea of a treat meal is barbecue rather than another formal steakhouse dinner. Portside BBQ gives the ship a distinct option, but it sits alongside a broad included-food plan. The smart budget starts with the food you can already eat and adds a specialty meal for a reason.

Do not copy a Wonder or Utopia restaurant list onto Oasis. Giovanni’s Table and Portside BBQ are important parts of this ship’s identity. This guide distinguishes those choices from its Main Dining Room, buffet and casual counters, using the current Royal Caribbean ship and venue pages.

THE SHORT VERSION

What matters for your decision

  • Portside BBQ is extra-charge dining; check the menu for your preferred meat and meal size.
  • Oasis lists Giovanni’s Table, not the differently named Italian Kitchen on some newer ships.
  • A paid lunch can be a more useful treat than replacing every included dinner.
01

Which restaurants are included on Oasis of the Seas?

Oasis offers the Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Park Café, Café Promenade, Sorrento’s, El Loco Fresh, Dog House and Solarium Bistro as its core included choices. Their different formats matter more than the raw count: a sandwich, a buffet plate and a served dinner solve different problems. Coastal Kitchen is separately restricted to eligible suite guests.

The table covers principal venues. Confirm hours and access in the official ship information. Drinks, premium dishes and delivery may cost extra even where standard food is included.

Portside BBQ changes the specialty-dining conversation

The official Portside menu page describes smoked meats, sides and combination choices. That is useful when not everyone wants the same portion size or another long dinner. Check the day’s menu and stock before organizing your entire afternoon around a particular cut; Royal says menu items are served while supplies last. A sample menu is a guide to the style, not a guarantee that your favorite meat will remain available late in service.

A barbecue lunch may be the best paid meal for a group that values casual food and wants evenings free for shows. The counterpoint is appetite: a substantial meat-and-sides meal can make a specialty dinner the same night unnecessary. Plan them on different days, or keep dinner flexible. Buying a package because you intend to visit several venues is less convincing if you are not hungry when those reservations arrive.

Royal’s Oasis restaurant guide also lists Giovanni’s Table and Chops Grille. Giovanni’s Table is the relevant Italian venue here; do not use a menu for Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen from another ship as your price or dish reference. Small differences in the venue name can represent a different restaurant concept.

03

Which meal is worth booking first?

For one distinctive paid meal, Portside BBQ belongs near the top of the research list if the party enjoys smoked meats. If the occasion calls for a longer seated dinner, compare 150 Central Park, Chops and Giovanni’s Table instead. Select by the current menu and the kind of evening you want, not by a ranking that treats barbecue and fine dining as interchangeable.

An included lunch at Park Café is a useful alternative when you want something lighter before dinner. El Loco Fresh and Sorrento’s can keep family meals simple when tastes split or an activity runs late. Paid sports-bar food at Playmakers makes more sense when watching a game together is part of the plan than when the only goal is to find a quick snack.

04

Build a dining plan around the actual sailing

Keep one sea-day lunch open for Portside if it interests you, and avoid placing your biggest dinner reservation immediately after it. On a port day, check when each casual venue stops service before relying on it after a late excursion. Walk through the neighborhood and identify the nearest alternative; crossing a large ship hungry is rarely the best time to learn which restaurants are open.

For a celebration, reserve the restaurant first, then check the show schedule with enough time to eat at a normal pace. If a package is already attached to the reservation, confirm how it works at à la carte venues and whether premium menu items cost more. Suite access and dining-package access are different entitlements and should be checked separately.

05

Reservations, menus and the total food budget

If you have a food allergy, contact the cruise line before departure and discuss preparation with the dining team before ordering. Our cruise dietary-needs guide explains what to confirm.

Compare departure dates and cabin fares on CruiseGem’s Oasis of the Seas page, then add the optional meals and drinks you actually plan to buy. Use the resulting trip total to compare sailings.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Your decision checklist

  1. Open the current Oasis of the Seas venue list and save the restaurants you want
  2. Check the daily opening times before leaving for an excursion
  3. Match every paid meal to a specific reservation and all-in price
  4. Confirm any package exclusions and cabin-based restaurant access
  5. Tell the dining team about food allergies before ordering
  6. Keep one convenient included option as a backup
COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions travelers ask

Can I eat on Oasis of the Seas without paying for specialty restaurants?

Yes. Oasis has included served dining, a buffet and casual food such as Park Café, Sorrento’s and El Loco Fresh. Portside BBQ is a paid choice, even though its setting is casual.

Which Oasis of the Seas restaurant should I book first?

Choose Portside BBQ for a casual smoked-meat meal when that cuisine is the attraction. For a reserved celebration dinner, compare Chops, Giovanni’s Table and 150 Central Park against the group’s preferences.

Can every passenger eat at Coastal Kitchen?

No. Coastal Kitchen has eligibility-based access. Verify the rules for your suite category or other qualifying status rather than counting it among unrestricted included restaurants.
