Aqua and Luna are the Norwegian ships to examine if a slidecoaster interests your family more than a go-kart track. They develop the Prima design with more outdoor space and a revised top-deck activity mix. The important distinction is what changed, not simply the word Plus.
Both ships are operating as of September 23, 2026. Future additions are excluded here. Compare their particular entertainment, room availability and itinerary before paying more for whichever one happens to be newest.

More outdoor space, with a slidecoaster instead of go-karts
Prima Plus continues Ocean Boulevard, Infinity Beach and the aft Haven concept while enlarging the design. The Aqua Slidecoaster takes the headline activity role occupied by the Speedway on Prima and Viva. A traveler who specifically wants go-karts should therefore compare the original Prima ships rather than treating the new design as an automatic upgrade.
The broader outdoor footprint is a reason to study the plan, not proof that every venue will feel uncrowded. Weather can concentrate demand inside, while popular small venues still have finite seats. Choose the spaces you will use rather than relying on a passenger-to-tonnage calculation as a service score.
Aqua and Luna: different headline entertainment

Aqua Slidecoaster, Glow Court and time outside
Aqua Slidecoaster combines powered launch with waterslide elements. It is not a conventional roller coaster, and ride requirements, operation and charges need checking for the sailing. Glow Court is a separate digital sports-space concept; it should not be confused with the outdoor pool area or a guaranteed activity session.
Ocean Boulevard and Infinity Beach give less active travelers another reason to consider the design. A group can value the outdoor seating and views without using the headline ride. The useful family question is whether everyone can find something worthwhile during the same part of the day.
Aqua’s Prince production and Luna’s Elton John/HIKO lineup are meaningful distinctions for entertainment-focused travelers. Show titles and schedules can evolve. NCL’s current Luna entertainment page uses ELTON: A Celebration of Elton John, while earlier announcements used Rocket Man; treat the current page and onboard schedule as the reference.
Indulge Food Hall and the dining-package limits
Indulge Food Hall is an important part of the casual-dining proposition, alongside the main dining rooms and buffet. It creates variety without requiring every meal to be a specialty purchase. Check individual stalls, service periods and extras rather than assuming every item associated with the food hall is included.
Specialty restaurants, beverages and service charges need to be read against the package actually quoted. Free at Sea is not a statement that the entire trip has no additional costs. Count the meals and benefits each traveler will use, including any age or occupancy differences in the offer.
For a family, map lunch to the activity plan. A convenient included meal can be more useful than a lengthy specialty experience that breaks up the afternoon. For adults, a few chosen dinners may offer better value than paying for every available venue.
Haven duplexes and balconies above Ocean Boulevard
The Haven is an accommodation enclave with dedicated facilities, not a synonym for every suite or large room. Prima Plus introduces larger suite configurations, including three-bedroom duplex options. Confirm stairs within a duplex if anyone has mobility limitations; a large total floor area does not make a multilevel suite suitable.
Balconies and outdoor public areas occupy different levels. Inspect sightlines to Ocean Boulevard, overhangs and the relationship to pools or entertainment. A low balcony can have a very different privacy experience from a higher room in the same broad booking category.
Compare a well-positioned ordinary balcony with the complete Haven total. The private facilities may be valuable on several sea days, but a port-intensive route reduces the time available to use them. Confirm the exact benefits rather than pricing the upgrade from a photograph alone.
A mixed-interest group with time to enjoy the ship
Choose Prima Plus when you want Norwegian’s modern outdoor-space design, the slidecoaster and a wide dining choice. It is a particularly relevant comparison for a mixed-interest group that values both active recreation and places to sit outside.
Choose original Prima for the Speedway, or an older Norwegian class when ports and a comfortable room are the main priorities. Paying for the largest feature list makes little sense if the group’s age, height or preferences rule out most of it.
