Breakaway and Getaway share The Waterfront, Norwegian’s outdoor promenade lined with restaurants and bars. Neither has a go-kart track or slidecoaster. Their differences are now most apparent at dinner and in the evening venues.
Breakaway’s 2025 refit added Silver Screen Bistro, Horizon Park and The Stadium, and replaced Ocean Blue with Palomar. Getaway retains Ocean Blue and Moderno, with entertainment including Howl at the Moon and Syd Norman’s Pour House.

Dining and entertainment around The Waterfront
This two-ship class introduced a design centered on connected dining, bars and entertainment, with The Waterfront adding an outdoor promenade to the experience. It is a different arrangement from Prima’s Ocean Boulevard and does not carry every attraction found on Breakaway Plus.

Aqua Park and Breakaway's film-and-dining venue
Aqua Park, sports facilities and the ropes-course concept provide active options without a Speedway. Check the current listed activities for the exact ship; refurbishments can repurpose upper-deck areas.
Silver Screen Bistro combines a scheduled film with food served at reclining seats. It replaced Breakaway’s Spiegel Tent and carries a cover charge. Horizon Park offers outdoor seating and games; The Stadium’s family games are complimentary.
Getaway currently lists Howl at the Moon’s dueling pianos, Syd Norman’s Presents: Rumours and The Broadway Cabaret: Rock Edition. The Illusionarium is a separate venue on Deck 6. Check the daily program for performance times and the specific events offered there.
Outdoor dining, package rules and Silver Screen Bistro
The Waterfront is the class’s strongest dining-related design feature: restaurants and bars connect to the outdoor promenade. If eating outside is part of your ideal trip, examine the specific venue and itinerary season before paying extra for that expectation.
Both ships offer included main dining rooms and casual meals, plus paid Cagney’s, Le Bistro and Teppanyaki. Breakaway’s Cagney’s expanded into Moderno’s space, and Palomar replaced Ocean Blue. Getaway still lists Moderno and Ocean Blue, so those preferences can help decide between the ships.
For Silver Screen Bistro, check the film, menu and charge before booking. A specialty-dining allowance does not necessarily cover every paid experience; confirm the venue’s eligibility in your offer.
Haven access, balcony cover and shared sleeping space
The Haven, Studios and conventional room categories serve different travelers. Check which facilities belong to each category rather than assuming that a large balcony or a suite-like name buys enclave access.
For a balcony, inspect depth, cover and the deck below. Public promenade activity can matter to someone seeking a secluded outdoor space. For an interior, compare the room’s actual usable floor area and storage against the sailing length.
Choose around The Waterfront or the refit additions
Choose Breakaway class if The Waterfront, varied dinners and evening entertainment are the priorities, with enough recreation for an active day. Choose Breakaway specifically if its current refit additions are important.
Choose Getaway if its itinerary, available cabin or current entertainment fits better; a missing new venue is not automatically a disadvantage. Compare a later class if the holiday depends on go-karts, the slidecoaster or the most recent room design.
