Carnival Venezia and Firenze combine Italian-themed public rooms with Carnival dining, comedy and youth programs. Venezia takes its design cues from Venice; Firenze from Florence. Both offer Terrazza cabins with access to a restricted outdoor area, but neither has SkyRide or BOLT.
Start with the itinerary and then compare Terrazza with an ordinary balcony. The age rule and the difference between a Cabana patio and a private balcony can matter more than the decor.

Italian public spaces with a Carnival routine
These former Costa ships are related to the wider Vista design family, while Carnival’s official fleet chart identifies them as Venice class. Venezia’s Venetian setting and Firenze’s Florence-inspired identity are the organizing themes. Both retain Carnival’s main dining, entertainment and casual social approach.
The conversion dates describe entry into Carnival service, not original construction. Refitting a ship also does not mean every underlying layout decision changes. Read the current Carnival plan rather than a Costa-era brochure, and check the exact room code rather than matching a familiar-sounding name.
Venezia and Firenze

WaterWorks and ropes courses, without SkyRide
WaterWorks, a ropes course and the sports area provide outdoor recreation. Compare original Vista-class ships for SkyRide or Excel-class ships for BOLT; neither attraction is aboard Venezia or Firenze.
Il Viaggio and familiar Carnival lunch choices
Look at Il Viaggio when a specialty Italian dinner is part of the appeal, and compare its menu and charge with the included main dining options. The Italian theme is not a promise that all restaurants serve Italian food. Familiar Carnival choices coexist with ship-specific adaptations.
Tomodoro combines Mexican dishes with Italian influences, while La Strada Grill serves Italian street-food choices. Firenze also lists Il Mercato. Alongside these are Guy’s Burger Joint, sushi, teppanyaki and the steakhouse. Check which meals carry a charge before comparing dining packages.
Venezia’s main dining rooms are Marco Polo and Canal Grande; Firenze’s are Michelangelo and Medici. Use the assigned room and meal time in your booking, then fit any Il Viaggio reservation around port days and evening shows.
Terrazza access and Cabana privacy
Terrazza is the important cabin distinction. Venezia uses Terrazza Carnevale; Firenze uses Terrazza Moda. Carnival describes exclusive outdoor access and requires all occupants of Terrazza rooms to be 12 or older. Verify that rule against everyone’s age on the sailing date.
Terrazza Cabana patios open toward the shared outdoor area, so compare their walkway exposure with an ordinary balcony above. Terrazza Moda on Firenze includes whirlpools and a morning breakfast selection in Moda Lounge; access does not mean that every drink or service is included.
For travelers drawn to the Italian setting
Choose Venice when the atmosphere and Terrazza concept appeal and the itinerary works without unnecessary travel. It can be a useful change for someone who likes Carnival’s day-to-day product but wants different surroundings.
Compare Vista or Excel when SkyRide or BOLT is a priority. For Venezia and Firenze, the stronger distinctions are their Italian public rooms, Terrazza accommodation and available departures.
