Royal Caribbean Quantum Class: Quantum, Anthem and Ovation

What the original Quantum design gives you

SeaPlex is an indoor activity venue, and Two70 combines a lounge with panoramic aft views and technologically elaborate entertainment. The class also has the North Star observation capsule above the upper decks. Together, these provide a different emphasis from the outdoor neighborhoods of Oasis class. The Quantum activities page is a useful introduction to those shared features.

All three original Quantum ships have a covered main pool, a separate Solarium and outdoor pool space. This provides more sheltered swimming options than ships whose main pools are all outdoors. Pack for the shore itinerary as well as time aboard.

There is still substantial walking and elevator use. These are large ships, even though they are smaller than Oasis and Icon. Compare the cabin’s position with the places you would use frequently. A room convenient for the pool area may be less convenient for repeated visits to Two70 at the aft end of the lower public decks.

Quantum, Anthem and Ovation at a glance

Anthem’s musical and Ovation’s revised dining are useful differences within the shared design. Quantum’s current iFLY notice also deserves attention before booking.

Quantum: iFLY carries an out-of-service notice

Royal’s Quantum overview carries an out-of-service notice for RipCord by iFLY at the September 23, 2026 check. It also advertises the attraction elsewhere on the page. Confirm reopening with Royal for your departure if simulated skydiving is a reason for choosing this ship.

The same page lists Starwater and Sonic Odyssey among Quantum’s productions. Compare those shows and the available itinerary with Anthem and Ovation; the iFLY notice applies specifically to Quantum.

Anthem: We Will Rock You and Spectra’s Cabaret

Anthem’s activities page lists We Will Rock You, Spectra’s Cabaret and The Gift. Queen’s music in We Will Rock You may be a deciding factor for a theater-focused trip.

Ovation: Sound Cellar and new restaurants after the 2026 refit

Ovation’s current overview identifies it as newly amplified. Its current activities page highlights Sound Cellar, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Izumi Teppanyaki among the changes. These are practical distinctions for travelers comparing the original three sisters.

The amplification announcement also covers changes to the pool deck, casino and cabins. Match the dated deck plan with your departure when checking where the new venues sit relative to your room.

SeaPlex: useful indoor space with a changing schedule

SeaPlex's multipurpose floor alternates between bumper cars, sports and other sessions. Read the daily schedule and each activity's participation rules; the facilities are not all available at once.

Read participation requirements for the particular activity. A shared venue does not mean shared age, height or supervision rules. The app and onboard staff provide the relevant schedule and current instructions. Avoid promising a younger child a specific activity before you have checked eligibility.

Two70: plan for the lounge and the show

Two70 is useful in two different ways. By day, the aft-facing space provides broad views; for performances, screens and stage technology transform the room. The operator’s description on Quantum’s activities page makes that change of use explicit. Do not think of it only as a theater you visit after dinner.

For scenic cruising, compare the view you want with the places you can comfortably use. A public lounge can supplement a cabin without a balcony, but it is not private space and access or seating can change with events. A balcony gives you control over your own small viewing area; the lounge gives you an indoor alternative. Neither makes the other unnecessary for everyone.

Check the reservation and arrival instructions for Two70 performances. Leave enough time to reach the venue from dinner, especially if seating position matters to you.

North Star and iFLY: distinguish the attraction from the booking

North Star is the observation capsule; RipCord by iFLY is the wind-tunnel skydiving experience. They are often the photographs that attract attention to Quantum class, but availability, sessions and charges should be checked for the specific ship and sailing. Older advice about a free introductory session or port-day ride may not describe the product currently offered to you.

Weather and operational conditions can affect attractions. Choose an early opportunity when a particular experience matters and the schedule permits, leaving room for alternatives. That reduces dependence on a single final-day slot without promising that a rescheduled session will be possible.

Cabins: virtual views, obstructions and the exact room

A Virtual Balcony is a screen displaying an outside view in an interior cabin. It is not a window, an opening or an outdoor area. Royal’s Virtual Balcony explanation also warns that not every interior room has one. Confirm the booked category if that feature matters.

For an actual balcony, check whether the specific room is sold with an obstruction and what that obstruction is. Lifeboats, ship structure and the direction of the view can make similarly named categories feel different. A plan symbol is the start of that check; recent photographs of the exact cabin or a genuinely matching position can add useful context.

On a scenic route, compare the cost of a balcony with an ocean-view room and access to Two70. Consider how much time you expect to sit outdoors and whether you want a private view during periods when the lounge hosts events.

Official deck plans and a practical reading order

Open the ship’s official plan and select the dates covering your departure. Locate the cabin first. Then check the decks above and below, the nearest elevator lobby, the route to SeaPlex, and the route to Two70. Include the dining area you expect to use most often. This produces a useful map of your day instead of a long list of facilities.

When comparing Ovation with the earlier sisters, use the updated plan rather than assuming a venue occupies the same place on all three. When comparing with Odyssey, check the pool arrangement separately; the Ultra subgroup does not reproduce every covered-space feature in exactly the same way.

Choose the itinerary before assigning value to the ship

On an Alaska comparison, look at the actual ports, scenic-cruising itinerary, arrival and departure times, and the total route. “Alaska” is not a uniform package, and an indoor pool cannot make two different itineraries equivalent. For a warm-weather trip, decide whether you want the indoor options enough to choose them over a larger waterslide complex. Quantum class has FlowRider and other activities, but it is not a substitute for the waterpark design of Icon. A family choosing primarily for waterslides should compare Freedom, Voyager and Icon directly.

On a port-intensive route, a smaller ship with fewer attractions may still be the better overall choice if its itinerary and total cost are stronger. Consider Radiance class when viewing space and the route matter more than indoor active entertainment. The advantage of a feature depends on whether you will use it.
