What Royal Caribbean actually publishes

Royal’s current dress guidance describes casual, smart casual and formal looks. Jeans, polos and sundresses fit its casual examples; smarter evenings suggest collared shirts, dresses and tailored outfits. Formal examples include suits, tuxedos, cocktail dresses and gowns. It also specifies footwear in venues and excludes tank tops from the main dining room and specialty dinner venues.

The FAQ mentions shorts for breakfast and lunch without giving an unqualified dinner permission. Bring a comfortable pair of long trousers or another suitable dinner outfit if you plan restaurant meals, and check the venue's instructions.

Dress Your Best does not require a new wardrobe

Use clothes you already own and enjoy wearing. A dark suit can work for a celebratory dinner and photographs; a cocktail dress, jumpsuit or coordinated evening separates can do the same job. Repeating an outfit on a second dressy evening is a sensible luggage decision. Change accessories or the shirt if you want the photographs to look different.

Choose a level of formality your whole party is comfortable with before shopping. One traveler expecting a tuxedo portrait session and another expecting a quick buffet dinner can both have the holiday they want, but it helps to agree which evening is the shared occasion.

Check the sailing rather than memorizing a formal-night chart

The operator FAQ gives length-based examples, including one Dress Your Best on a five-night cruise and two on six-to-ten-night cruises, but reserves the schedule to the ship. It even uses different maximum counts in different passages. Treat the daily program and your sailing’s app as the final planning reference.

Wait for your sailing's schedule before arranging paid photographs or other plans around a dressy evening. After a long port day, allow time to return, shower and change; all-aboard time is not a realistic restaurant arrival time.

Chef’s Table deserves its own outfit check

Royal explicitly identifies Chef’s Table as enforcing a formal dress code in its attire FAQ. Read the confirmation for your named experience. The fact that another specialty restaurant looks relaxed does not settle Chef’s Table, a private event or a special dining package.

If a jacket takes too much suitcase space, wear it on the journey and put its coordinating shirt where it will not be crushed. Build a practical outfit plan for daytime and shore visits

Royal’s first-cruise packing guide distinguishes ship activities and excursions. Make your own day-by-day list: pool, walking tour, active excursion, dinner. A shoe suitable for a restaurant may be poor on cobblestones, and a pool cover-up may not meet a religious site’s requirements.

A useful seven-night starting point is two interchangeable dinner bottoms, several tops, one optional dressier outfit and comfortable footwear you have already worn. This is our capsule suggestion, not a cruise-line minimum. Add activity equipment only after reading your excursion instructions and the ship’s prohibited-items list.

Keep first-night and departure clothes accessible
